Women in Construction Week: Sherri Carson

Women in Construction Week 2022: Sherri Carson

Sherri Carson is one of more than 30 amazing women working at Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC). She began her role as Corporate Operations Coordinator in 2019 after a good friend of hers referred her to CWC. “I fell into place really easily and I'm so happy to be here ,” she explained. Sherri is an essential woman in our organization. Not only is she the first point of contact when reaching out to us and the face of our company, she also has extensive administrative skills and her cheerful attitude is contagious. “I like that I can trust the people that I work with. Everyone is always so encouraging and helpful. That's how it's supposed to be.”

Kudos to Sherri

Sherri’s colleagues praise her often for being an asset to our team. Subcontractor Prequalifications Coordinator, Jenny Beers, had kind words to describe her, “Sherri is an absolute joy to be around and a great asset to the CWC team. She is committed to learning new things, helping others, and she truly keeps this office running. Sherri's role at CWC genuinely showcases her warm and welcoming personality. We are lucky to have her."

Quite the Artist

In addition to her duties at CWC, Sherri is quite the artist. Her hobbies include photography, painting and drawing. She recently participated in the Madison House volunteer project with CWC, refreshing the building with a new coat of paint. “I like to paint. Painting that space and making it more inviting was fun.” Sherri has also organized several CWC’s charity drives benefitting local non-profits including Women Giving Back, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Washington DC, Luke’s Wings, US Army, Manna Food Bank and Salvation Army. Since joining CWC, Sherri has been a member of the CWC Women’s Group. When asked what she enjoyed most about the group, Sherri said, “The experiences of doing new things with the women I work with. I enjoy getting to know them.”

Advice for Women in Construction

If Sherri was able to give one piece of advice to a woman joining the construction industry, she would say, Be open to the possibilities. You just have to jump in and do it. Usually, it turns out fabulous.”
